Overview :
The leader of the IT Strategic Demand Management organization has overall responsibility for Symantec’s IT customer relationships across all business units. This highly visible IT role leads the following IT functions: Business Partner Directors (BPD), Portfolio Management and the Business Analysis Center of Excellence (BA CoE). This leader will be responsible for the day to day management and employee development of 10 – 15 direct reports.
The SDM leader executes and refines the customer relationship engagement model based on changing business conditions. This leader enforces the use of consistent best practice processes for IT strategic planning, relationship management, customer service, portfolio and demand management, forecasting and business partner program/project approval.
The leader develops strategic partnership with business executives and leaders to strategize, define and ensure implementation of needed IT solutions by applying strong business case justifications, financial assessment and return on investment analysis to determine the IT portfolio for the company.
This role also interfaces and collaborates with IT Service Management and Governance to influence the delivery of IT services and solutions in a sourced delivery model. Additionally, this senior IT leader develops a culture of continuous improvement and is responsible for comprehensive employee management, including recruitment, career development planning and performance evaluation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop and motivate a team of experienced professionals in IT strategy development, customer relationship management, consulting, portfolio management and business systems analysis.
Responsible for business unit’s overall satisfaction with the delivery of IT services and projects. - Have a lead role in defining and executing the communication strategy related to IT services for the business units. Communicate IT and company objectives and manage priorities at a variety of levels within the organization
- Develop and guide the implementation of the Strategic Demand Management strategy and processes, including enhancing the demand intake process to support various business needs and conditions. Consistency is critical, with the understanding that one size will not fit all situations and business units.
- Build and manage a global team of business facing roles with clearly defined roles, responsibilities and operating practices
- Ensure IT demand requests are strategic and financially aligned with the priorities of the Symantec, the business unit and IT.
- Direct the long term IT portfolio strategy and development of the Corporate IT Portfolio and Roadmap. Assess and provide guidance to the executive team about the overall financial impact of the over IT portfolio for the company.
- Develop trusted, consultative C-level relationships
- Lead the Information Technology Investment board (ITIB)
- Ensure strong collaboration between the IT Demand and IT Service Management & Governance teams
- Review priorities with the IT Service Management and the Service Provider to provide visibility into the forecasted demand
- Respond to escalations and influence and negotiate results in the best interests of the company
Experience Required :
- MS/MBA/MA degree in Business, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Engineering or Technical Equivalent, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in consulting and IT leadership roles
- 3+ years senior IT management experience
- Experience in Demand Management / Forecasting / Portfolio Management
- IT program and project management experience desired
- Proven experience in facilitating organizational change
- Experience operating in an outsourced IT environment ideal
Skills Required
- Proven leadership skills with large teams
- Strong understanding of IT portfolio management and financial analysis and implications
- Experience briefing IT-oriented issues at the executive level
- Strong knowledge of IT best practice processes and IT management and governance (ITIL, CMMI)
- Proven ability to balance multiple priorities and efficiently utilize resources
- Ability to work with details while adhering to a broader set of goals and objectives manage risks, scope, cost, and conflicts.
- Ability to anticipate areas of concern and be proactive
- Excellent decision making and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills
- Strong relationship building and negotiation skills
- Consulting and IT project management experience desired
- Experience briefing IT-oriented issues in business related terms at the executive level (CFO, CMO, SVP, etc.)
